Asset Guardian V4: Configuration Management

Asset Guardian V4 is a fully configurable database management tool specifically designed to meet the needs of an automated production or process control environment.  Asset Guardian V4 has a number of key features:

  • Software Storage and Revision Control: provides a simple but effective method of securely storing all of your process-critical application and proprietary software within the SQL Server, and controlling access to it. Different levels of access may be given to managers, supervisors, engineers and operators on an Asset-by-Asset basis. Built in Revision Control mechanisms ensure that you always have access to the current revision, and to previous revisions if required.
  • Document Storage and Issue Control: Important plant documents and drawings are stored and managed within the Asset Guardian V4 database. New revisions of controlled documents such as Standard Operating Procedures are automatically issued to all users on the distribution lists.
  • Hardware Register: The specification of your hardware items, including details of the software they are currently running, is held in the Asset Guardian V4 database. In the event of a hardware or software failure you have all the information you need to quickly reinstate the system.
  • Software Override Status Monitoring: Asset Guardian V4 permits approved users to record the details of overrides (reason/plant impact/forced values etc.) and their current state of activation/deactivation, thus eliminating any uncertainty during shift changes and long periods of time.
  • Management of Fault Logs and Change Requests: Users may report faults (in any part of your plant, not just software) or request changes to plant processes. Corrective action and implementation is then tracked through the relevant stages of approval, assignment, implementation and closure.
  • Storage and Tracking of Correspondence: Internal and external correspondence (e-mail, fax, letter or telephone journal) may be stored within its associated Asset, so that users can quickly review any issues that have been raised by colleagues or vendors.
