Whether you host the Asset Guardian V4 Servers yourself or contract Elite Control Systems Limited to host them for you, the Asset Guardian Clients connect the same way. You have a Web address for the Client to connect to, and then the user logs into the system with a user name and password. All Asset Guardian V4 features are security linked and the user only has access to the features permitted by their user group. There is no need to install any application software on the Client computers. Asset Guardian V4 is programmed in Java and so any Java enabled operating system shall download the latest Client application and run it at the time of connection to the Server.
New versions are automatically downloaded to the Clients the next time they connect after the Server has been updated. There are two types of Clients – the Desktop Client and the Web Client. The Desktop Client is a feature rich application that runs in any Java enabled operating system (Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, etc.) and gives all the features of Asset Guardian V4 through thin client architecture. It works over the Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and the Internet. The second option is the Web Client. This allows all Asset Guardian V4 functionality to be accessed through your standard Web Browser over your company’s Intranet or externally through the Internet.
