Ease of use is a key objective in the design of Asset Guardian V4. It uses a familiar Windows Explorer style User Interface. This provides a number of major benefits:
- Most users will feel immediately comfortable with it
- All routine functions are controlled from a single screen – no need to browse to find the command you need
- All Assets are visible in the hierarchical ‘tree structure’ in the left hand pane
- Standard Windows dialogue boxes and drop down menus
- Drag and drop is supported
At the heart of Asset Guardian V4 is the hierarchical display of all assets/objects in the database. The structure means you can quickly view the contents without having to look at each object individually, and quickly identify or find Asset components. As well as allowing unlimited parent and child Asset grouping, Asset Guardian V4 allows filtering of Assets or components e.g. in Assets, only display open Assets or only display closed Assets. Asset Guardian V4 tracks how Assets are linked to each other and how Assets are linked to specific projects or jobs, giving a complete audit history related to any specific Asset. The information is then presented in a standard explorer type window.
