Shotts set to host 2016 Solo Piping and Drumming Championships

There is just over a week to go until the third annual Shotts and Dykehead Junior Piping and Drumming Championships and Asset Guardian Solutions Limited are proud to be one of the official sponsors.

The competition, which will be held on 3rd December 2016 at Calderhead High School in Shotts, is going into its third year after being introduced in 2014 as a way of supporting Piping and Drumming within the North Lanarkshire Community and on a wider scale throughout Scotland.

The Pipe Band has a lengthy history of community engagement within North Lanarkshire going back as early as the Old Shotts Colliery. The annual Junior Championships is an important way of the band giving back to the community.

Youth development is equally important which is which is why many of the band’s members are currently involved in the tuition of talented youngsters throughout Scotland and the World ranging from highly successful School’s piping programs, private tuition and participation in the National Pipe Band of Scotland.

The event will be judged by some of Scotland’s top adjudicators who are also successful adult solo competitors. The event has proved so successful in the previous two years, that competitors are travelling from as far away as Canada to take part. The event is catered for all so feel free to come along and support the band in what is guaranteed to be an enjoyable day for all!
